Betsy's Family

Betsy was born in 1803 and was enslaved at St. Inigoes plantation until 1838. She married her husband, Edward “Ned” Dorsey in 1822. The couple had four children: Bernard (b.1825), Lucinda (b.1827), William Grandison (b.1833), and Daniel Henry (b.1836). The entire family was sold to Henry Johnson and was passengers on the Katharine Jackson in 1838. Betsy’s children gave her five grandchildren, all born in Louisiana. Betsy died on August 21, 1879 and is buried in New Orleans, Louisiana.
