The Jones Family
Arnold Jones was born around 1800 and was enslaved at St. Inigoes plantation in Maryland. Arnold and his wife, Anna “Anny” Mahoney, had two children: Arnold Henry (b.1829) and Louisa Ann (b.1832).
Arnold and his son escaped their plantation sometime before 1838. However, Arnold Jr. was captured and transported to Louisiana on the Katharine Jackson with his mother and sister in November of 1838.
Anna and her two children were sold to Henry Johnson. While Arnold had escaped slavery and transportation to Louisiana, Anna lived to be 63 years old and died in 1874 at the Louisiana plantation. Anna and Arnold had twelve grandchildren.
