The Queen Family

Charles Queen was born around 1793 at the White Marsh Farm plantation. Charles was enslaved at the Maryland plantation until his family was sold to Jesse Batey in 1838.

Charles and his wife, Sally (b.1794), had seven children: Nancy (b.1819), Margaret (b.1822), David (b.1824), Eliza (b.1826), Martha (b.1833), Thomas (b.1835), and Sarah Anne (b.1837).

Sally and her seven children were sold to Jesse Batey and transported to Louisiana on the Uncas. Charles had escaped the plantation, but was captured and also purchased by Jesse Batey. However, Charles was a passenger on the Isaac Franklin that arrived in Louisiana several months after the Uncas. Charles, Sally, and more than half of their children passed away by 1851.

Nancy, the longest surviving member of the Queen family, had seven children of her own before her death after 1880.
