Harriet was born around 1795 on White Marsh Farm plantation, where she was enslaved until she was sold in 1838. Her husband, James Queen, is listed as a freeman in the bill of sale.
Together, James and Harriet had seven children: Elizabeth (b.1815), Isaias (b.1817), Nancy (b.1819), Mary Ellen (b.1822), Martha (b.1827), Jim (b.1837), and Cesar (b.1838).
Elizabeth and her children were sold to Jesse Batey in 1838. While her husband isn't listed on the ship manifest and may have remained behind or escaped, Elizabeth and her family were passengers on the Uncas and were taken to Louisiana.
While enslaved in Louisiana, Harriet remarried and gave birth to her daughter, Angeline, in 1840. By the time Elizabeth passed away, she had 12 grandchildren.
