The Queen Family

Len Queen was born in 1789 in Maryland. He was enslaved at St. Thomas Manor plantation until 1838.

On July 7, 1830, Len married Anny (b.1791). The couple had four children: Adeline (b.1826), Eliza (b.1828), Gabriel (b.1830), and Charles (b.1837).

The family was sold to Jesse Batey in 1838 and transported to Louisiana on the Katharine Jackson. A 13-year-old boy aboard the Katharine Jackson with the Queen family, Augustin “Austin” West, later married Len and Anny’s daughter Eliza.

Eliza and Augustin had eight children together. Adeline had six of her own children with her husband, Jacob Waters. Len lived until at least the age of 67, dying between 1856 and 1867.
